CAPE OF GOOD HOPE RIEBEEKSRIVIER CHENIN BLANC 2020

Oatmeal, macadamia nuts and creamy stone fruit on the nose. e palate echoes those flavours with its richness and breadth. Peach pip, nectarine and stone fruit are fresh and lively while the oak supports it in a well defined cradle. Again oatmeal and nutty flavours are apparent but not overwhelming. e wine is powerful but refined and structured. Nothing is superfluous and its perfectly proportioned with a long tail of flavour that ends with a delightfully pithy citrus twist. Will reward patient cellaring.

Beautiful typical varietal Shiraz perfume with an enticing floral overlay. A combination of red and purple fruit dominates the nose with violets and hints of spice. The pallet dances with a combination of raspberry and black current and fades into a smokey and flinty finish. Soft and elegant tannins are well supported by good structure and body.

Bold plum, hedgerow fruit with a tempting dried lavender perfume on the nose. The wine confidently stalks onto the palate. Sleek yet succulent with rich spicy forest floor and the same hedgerow notes from the nose. A brush of herbs and fynbos adds interest. The wine is structured with a firm core of oak which is supportive rather than prominent or overbearing. Beautifully elegant and poised with lovely harmony all the way to its lingering and smart finish. Drinking well now, it will reward additional patience and careful cellaring.

Fine, vigorous bubbles deliver sourdough, citrus and bright and fresh lemon aromatics. The palate is both zesty, lively and tangy with initial lemon and grapefruit vibrancy morphing into a broad, creamy mouthful. Lovely interplay of zingy green apple vitality and rich, toasty flavours. The mouth filling leesy notes harmonise beautifully with the acidity. Rounded and rewarding.

A light flinty, gravel note underpins granadilla and grapefruit aromas on the nose. A Taut and zingy lemon and grapefruit vivacity is immediately apparent in the mouth. Adding to the complexity is a slate and mineral nuance. The palate is fresh and succulent with lively acidity. Unmistakably Sauvignon Blanc, this wine is focussed, crisp and balanced with good concentration, body and length of flavour.
